Heidi’s Story — Lost Weight and Improved Muscle Definition

testimonial_HeidiP.jpg*Results described are not typical and will vary for each individual.

I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I hit my highest weight in 2000, weighing in at 150 pounds (and wearing a size 12)—too big for my small, five-foot-tall frame. At that time, I lost some weight and got down to a smaller size, but I was never quite where I wanted to be. I just couldn’t lose those last few pounds, until I went through the Nutrition 4 Weight Loss Program with a friend.

Exercise Wasn't Enough

Even though I exercised a lot, I still felt pudgy. I knew I had more weight to lose. I was eating low fat and instead of sugar, used sugar substitutes. I always thought I knew what it meant to eat healthy, but after taking the Nutrition 4 Weight Loss classes, I realized I didn’t!

Eliminating Processed Foods

After learning in class how the body doesn’t know what to do with artificial ingredients and how they can be unhealthy, I stopped using them and started eliminating processed foods from my diet. Understanding how artificial ingredients work in the body was a real eye-opener for me. I also learned to incorporate more fat into my meals and snacks. In the past, I was always hung up on the fat content in foods. I would study a nutrition label on a product and make sure the fat was low enough. I was really afraid of fat! Thankfully, my teacher explained how important fat is for the body and it really clicked for me.

I loved my instructor, Oralee! I was very impressed her. She made things easy to understand and fun. I always looked forward to my weekly class. Brenna, my nutritionist, was also helpful by showing me what a healthy serving of fat actually was (I needed a lot of guidance and support on fat). She pointed out where I could tweak my personal eating plan for better results and gave me good recommendations.

I Feel Stronger and My Muscles Are Defined

The Nutrition 4 Weight Loss Program set me up for success to reach my weight loss goals. Since I’ve been following my new eating plan, I have felt so much stronger with my workout routines. My pants fit better and my cellulite is disappearing! Even though the scale hasn’t moved too much, only about three pounds, there has been a huge difference in my body composition. My muscles are more defined in my arms and shoulders, which I credit to my workouts, but I know that my eating has been the catalyst in taking me to an improved level of health. My skin is more hydrated and since I’ve been on the program, I’ve had two people comment about my glowing skin.

I’ve always been a positive and energetic person, but I have definitely noticed an extra spring in my step. I’m happier and my moods are even brighter. I have more confidence than ever. I can go about my day longer without thinking about food, because when I eat, I am satisfied. I’m no longer obsessive about the fat content in foods. I just look for real foods, not processed ones.

I am so excited about the positive changes I’ve experienced that I’ve been telling everyone. Nutrition is the foundation for good health. Without it, an exercise program won’t be as beneficial. I want others to learn this too, so they can experience the wonderful things I have.
